Buying Poker Chip Cases

Buying Poker Chip Cases

Would you prefer to keep your gold in a shoebox or a metal safe? That is the same question I ask myself when thinking about storing my poker chips. Although I can certainly store my chips in a cardboard shoebox, they are hardly going to be secure there. Poker chip cases are made specifically for storing poker chips in a safe and secure way. They can prevent your chips from damage or theft and if you are a person who owns or plans to own poker chips which are slightly valuable, you’ll want to spend a little extra to buy a nice quality poker chip case.

There are several types of chip cases you can purchase. The cheapest are the plastic cases which are the most insecure. They are not lockable and don’t provide as much protection for your chips as other cases. They are only suitable for the cheapest plastic poker chips rather than more expensive chip types.

The great thing about the really good poker chips cases is that you cane easily tell if any chips have gone missing. This is vital if you play with them regularly and you have valuable chips. The last thing you want to do is lose any.

I like to buy lockable poker chip cases. Certain chip sets come with high quality cases; these are generally the premium chips. I believe these are well worth paying for as both the chips and the case will last forever compared with cheap products.

poker-chip-caseVinyl and wooden poker chip cases are also available. These are better than plastic cases but not as good as metal cases. A vinyl case is generally made of wood underneath the vinyl and sometimes comes with a lock. If you have a lot of poker chips then their weight may cause the wooden or vinyl case to not be able to handle it, resulting in chips spilling everywhere. Use wooden or vinyl cases only for small poker chips sets.

My favorite type of poker chip case is of course the metal case. These are available in many styles, colors and prices. You will find a metal case to be much stronger, safer and more secure than any other type. You can buy aircraft quality aluminum cases. Obviously these are more expensive but if you are serious about poker chip protection then I can highly recommend this type.

You do get what you pay for when it comes to poker chip cases. I believe you should buy the best case that you can afford and think of it as a long term investment.
